16-day fully guided small group tour (max 10 guests)

We discover the Best of Western Canada on this
tour through Alberta and British Columbia. From the Pacific Coast we
travel through the Inside Passage to the "Wild West" of the
interior, and relax in a Wilderness Lodge before we go on exploring
the unique and amazing Rocky Mountain National parks. You may add the
spectacular Calgary Stampede and Rodeo "the World's biggest Outdoor
Show" to this adventure tour.
Day 1: Flight to Vancouver where your guide will pick you up at the
airport. Welcome drink downtown Vancouver.
Day 2 : City Tour of Vancouver : We discover Gastown, Chinatown and
Gransville Island and go on to explore beautiful Stanley Park by bike
or roller blades (included).
Day
3 : By ferry boat we travel through a maze of smaller islands to Vancouver
Island and Victoria, capital city of British Columbia. Tour of this
very “British” city and its surroundings. Possibility to
visit the world famous Butchard Gardens. Free afternoon to explore this
charming city on foot. Overnight in downtown, close to the inner harbour.
Day 4 : From Victoria we travel to Chemainus where colourful murals
depict the history of the valley and continue to Campbell River, “Salmon
Capital of the World”. On the way we stop and visit Cathedral
Grove Park with it’s ancient and giant trees. 2 nights in lodge
with fantastic views of the inside passage and the coast mountains.
Day 5 : Excursion by sea kayak (included). Options : hikes, bear watching
tours or just simply relax and enjoy the beautiful setting.
Day
6: We continue towards the north end of the Island, to Telegraph Cove,
a hamlet built on stilts and where we board a vessel for a whale watching
trip (included). Overnight in Port Hardy.
Day 7: All day ferry boat cruise through the fantastic Discovery Coast
Passage. Along quiet fjords, dense rainforest and snow covered peaks
we travel towards Bella Coola, a small native settlement in the Bella
Coola valley. With a bit of luck we may be able to see a variety of
whales and dolphins. Overnight in the Bella Coola valley.
8 . Tag : An impressive route awaits us over the Freedom Highway over
Heckman Pass towards Anahim Lake where we spend the night in cozy log
cabins on the lake shore. Try one of the canoes on your door step, go
for a hike or treat yourself to a fantastic and unforgettable flight
by float plane towards snow-covered peaks and glaciers and the amazing
and colourful rainbow mountains of the coastal range.
9. Tag : Today, we traverse the beautiful Chilcotin Plateau, travel
through many small native settlements before crossing the Fraser River
to Williams Lake. We continue to beautifully located Ten-ee-ah Lodge,
where we will spend the next three nights. Breakfast buffet and 3-course
evening meals included.
10.&11. Tag : Enjoy a few relaxing days at this very special lodge.
On our program we have a horseback trip (included), hiking, canoeing,
mountain biking. And try your luck fishing, go swimming or just simply
lay back, relax and enjoy.
12. Tag : Through the “Wild West”, the Cariboo Country with
it’s huge cattle ranches, countless lakes and it’s old building
and road houses, leftovers from the great Cariboo Gold Rush, we drive
to towards Wells Gray Park. If time permits we will visit some of its
numerous waterfalls before we continue into the stunning Rocky Mountains
and towards Jasper. Possibility to take a helicopter flight into the
glacier world around of the highest mountain of the Canadian Rockies,
Mount Robson. 2 nights in comfortable cabins in Jasper.
Day 13, we spend the day exploring Jasper National Park and visit Maligne
Lake and Maligne Canyon. Possibilities to go rafting, hiking, biking,
etc.
Day 14, another highlight on the Best of the West Tour: the famous
and just simply stunning Icefields Parkway. We travel through the Rockies,
surrounded by mountain chains and numerous turquoise coloured lakes
and visit Athabasca Falls and the Athabasca Glacier of the big Columbia
Icefield. 2 nights in Canmore, just outside Banff National Park.
Day
15, full day trip into Banff National Park where we explore Banff, beautiful
Moraine Lake and of course famous Lake Louise.
Day 16, last minute shopping and we will travel through the prairies
towards Calgary. Departure or extension of your stay in Canada. We highly
recommend to stay another day to attend the Calgary Stampede and Rodeo,
the "biggest Outdoor Show" of the world.

1 night CAD 260.- per person in double room,
2 nights : CAD 360.- per person in double room
includes hotel downtown, 1 x admission to stampede grounds and good
seats for the afternoon rodeo, and good seats for the evening chuck
wagon races, musical and fireworks.
We reserve the right to change parts of the
tour description if necessary due to circumstances that are beyond the
control of A-ZitaTours. All changes will be replaced by same or better
options.
